Steel or Plastic Gutters?

The main task of gutters is to protect facades and foundations from rainwater. On the market today we can find both tin gutters, as well as those made of PVC plastic. Which ones are better? We will try to answer this question in the following post.

PVC gutters

Plastic gutters are very aesthetically pleasing; however, they also have their drawbacks. PVC is not very resistant to rapid temperature changes. In severe frost, guttering can become brittle and fragile, while in high temperatures, it can become soft. If you use PVC gutters on sunny roofs and choose a dark color, there is a good chance that they will be susceptible to deformation and damage. The undoubted advantage is the fact that PVC gutters are made of polyvinyl chloride, which is colored in the mass, and thus on such gutters we will not notice scratches or other surface damage.

Metal gutters

Metal gutters are created from aluminum or galvanized sheets that are coated with a special coating to protect them and make them more aesthetically pleasing. However, these coatings are very fragile and can be damaged in transit or during installation. Metal gutters do not change their characteristics in high or low temperatures, but they should not be used on homes that are surrounded by trees, as branches or cones will quickly damage their coating.

Both metal and PVC gutters have their advantages and disadvantages. The choice of appropriate should be well thought out, you need to take into account whether the house will be more affected by mechanical or thermal factors.
